Over $226M in credit card donations received via the Support Jamaica Portal

The Support Jamaica Portal received US$1.08 million in donations through credit card transactions, as at 8: 07 this morning.

The portal is the official Government online hub for coordinating Jamaica’s disaster relief and recovery efforts, following the passage of Hurricane Melissa late last month.

The portal, accessible at supportjamaica.gov.jm is used to mobilize donations and volunteers, as well as to provide emergency updates, among other purposes.

Information Minister, Dr. Dana Morris Dixon said in addition to the over US$1 million donation, just over JMD$53 million was donated through credit card transactions.

In the meantime, the Minister noted that 170 donors have registered on the relief portal providing aid to Jamaica.

She added that there are 40 bilateral partners, with over 30 of them already contributing to the island.
