Police have identified the man who drowned after he reportedly jumped from a moving police service vehicle, into the Rio Cobre, while crossing the Flat Bridge in St Catherine yesterday.

Dead is 73-year-old Melton Smith a farmer of Mickelton Meadows in Linstead.

Police said smith was a suspect in an alleged case of abduction and carnal abuse.
