The local sporting fraternity is today mourning the passing of national football legend Vernon Bell, who passed away in Ohio on Monday night.
Vernon played football for Jamaica back in the 1960’s.
He was a reliable defender in the national colours and also played as batsman for Lucas Cricket Club.
vernon also won the premier league and the ksafa major league with tivoli.
He also coached Kingston College and played at Santos in the early days of the club’s inception with brother Jackie and Howard ‘Juicy’ Bell .
he was in his mid 70’s.
The Bell family name has been synonymous with football in Jamaica for decades, from as far back as the 1960’s, from Jackie to Vernon, along with Russell to Howard, in addition in addition to Neville and Douglas .
