Telecommunications Minister Daryl Vaz says a third telecoms company Rock Mobile is expected to commence its service offerings this year.
He made the statement at today’s meeting of Parliament’s Standing Finance Committee.
In 2021, the minister announced that the mobile company would be rolled out no more than 12 months after receiving its license to operate.
Providing an update, today Mr. Vaz said a 12 month extension was given to the company last year.
He said rock mobile is on course to meet the deadline.
Mr. Vaz said the introduction of the third domestic mobile telecoms provider is part of measures being taken by the government to boost mobile services across the country.
