The identities of the deceased have not been released.

Reports are that between 6:00 A.M., and 10:00 A.M., the members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s (JCF) Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigation Branch (CTOC), acting on intelligence intercepted multiple vehicles in Negril square.

A shoot-out ensued and five were  fatally shot.

Six firearms were also seized during the incident.

Police say an operation is underway, as investigators and marine police search for additional evidence.
