As electors head to the polls to cast their votes in the Local Government Election today, the police are reminding them to adhere to the law.
In a post to its social media pages, the Jamaica Constabulary Force says there should be no meeting, march, or motorcade within 24 hours of the opening of polling stations.
It adds that assembly, the possession of weapons, and any activity influencing voters within 100 meters of polling stations are strictly prohibited.
The JCF says there are also restrictions on the sale of liquors.
It explains that all establishments licensed to sell alcoholic beverages, including bars, nightclubs, and liquor stores, must be closed one hour before the opening of polling stations and remain closed for six hours after the closing of polling stations.
The JCF is urging all citizens to adhere to these regulations and contribute to a peaceful and orderly election process.
