A seven-member jury has found St Mary cab driver, Andre Thomas guilty of the 2016 murder of two American missionaries in the parish.

The jury heard evidence in the Home Circuit Court for four weeks before delivering the verdict today (July 27).

Justice Leighton Pusey, who presided over the trial, ordered that Thomas be taken to court on October 13.

Missionaries, 53-year-old Harold Nichols and 48-year-old Randy Hentzel were found dead in Wentworth District, St Mary, between April 30 and May 1, 2016.

Hentzel’s body had a gunshot wound to the back of the head, and the hands were bound.

Meantime, Nichols’ body was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and six chop wounds to the head.

The main witness for the prosecution was St Mary farmer Dwight Henry who was charged jointly with Thomas.

Henry had pleaded guilty and was sentenced in January this year to life imprisonment, and ordered to serve 28 years before he is eligible for parole.
