Some vendors who cook and sell food in the vicinity of the Ocho Rios Market, in St. Ann are demanding answers from the St. Ann Municipal Corporation following a demolition exercise today.
A number of stalls were torn down.
The upset cook shop vendors who operate at night say they were not given notice and have questioned why the authorities have treated them in this manner.
The vendors who say they have been selling in the Ocho Rios Market for up to 20 years, claim they have not been given another location from which to operate .
Reports to Irie FM News are that the area was targeted because of unsanitary conditions and that the vendors also sleep at the location.
However, the vendors said this was not the case, claiming they keep the area clean.
Attempts to contact the chairman of the St. Ann Municipal Corporation were unsuccessful.
