The police reported at least five murders across the country on Saturday.
In the first incident, one man was killed in Sandy Park, St. Andrew, while 5 people were wounded in the same incident. The deceased is 26-year-old Ishmael Sicard, a construction worker.
It’s reported that Sicard and the others were at a party at around 3 AM when an argument developed. Reports are that gunmen later pounced upon the group which included Sicard, shooting six people.
They were taken to the hospital where Sicard died while the others were admitted for treatment.
Head of the St Andrew Central police, Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth said the incident started because someone had stepped on the shoe of another individual.
He said one of the victims is in critical condition while pleading with residents to provide any information they can to assist the police.
Meantime, a man and a woman were shot and killed in Seaforth, St Thomas last night.
Dead are 41-year-old Jermaine Jeffery otherwise called Blacks, a taxi operator, and 50-year-old Denise Bell, a shop operator, both of Soho Hill, Seaforth.
Reports are that at about 10:25 PM, Jeffery, and Bell were in a Subaru motor car when they were pounced upon by a gunman who opened fire hitting them.
The police were alerted and they were taken to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.
And two people were shot dead in separate incidents just minutes apart in Central Kingston, on Saturday morning.
Dead are Sandy Walker, of Text Lane, and Canoy Whithorn, of Beeston Street.
Reports are that at about 10:30 AM, Walker was at the intersection of Pryce Lane and North Street, when she was pounced upon by gunmen, who opened fire, hitting her. She died on the scene.
Several minutes later, gunmen opened fire on Whithorn, who was working at a garage, at the intersection of Pryce Lane and Beeston Street. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Head of the Kingston Central Police, Senior Superintendent Berrisford Williams said Whithorn’s murder is believed to be a reprisal for Walker’s killing.
Superintendent Williams is urging residents who may be able to assist the police in their investigation, to contact the police.
