The Reggae Boyz put the challenges of the previous 72 hours behind them by rushing to the top of A in the Concacaf Nations league with a comfortable 3-1 win over Suriname at the National Stadium on Tuesday night (June 7th)
Played in front of a small but appreciative crowd, the Boyz were led by a big performance from top midfielder Ravel Morrison who shot them into the lead with a superb free kick in the 16th minute.
This was cancelled out four minutes later when Yanic Wildschut found the equaliser for the vistors.
However Junior Flemmings in the 43rd minute, his second consecutive goal, and a second half strike by Jamal Lowe, sealed the victory for Jamaica to move to four points at the top of the group, three ahead of Suriname.
Coach Paul Hall spoke about the difference between Saturday’s game and last nights encounter.
Jamaica’s next assignment will be against Mexico next Tuesday inside the National Stadium.
Meanwhile outgoing General Secretary Dalton Wint who had come under pressure to resign following the Reggae Boyz troublesome trip to Suriname last Saturday is expected to walk away with a hefty pay day from the JFF.
In a letter that has been circulated JFF President, Michael Ricketts, has committed to paying Wint’s salary for the duration of his contract, which runs to December 2023 – the amount will be in the region of $9.5 million dollars.
