1,481 murders committed up to December 28
1,481 murders were committed across the island up to December 28.
Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson gave the latest murder figures while speaking at a press conference on Wednesday.
He also stressed the importance of continuing the country’s downward trend in murders.
The commissioner explained, that since the start of the year, the country recorded a daily average of 4 murders, but over the past two months, this statistic has been reduced to 2.5.
Meantime, commissioner Anderson, said the security forces have optimized their available resources, to deter criminals, who have sought to use the festive season, to mask their movements and activities.
Major General Anderson who described this as unacceptable, stressed that the constabulary will not relent in its quest to disrupt the activities of those who wreak havoc on the country.
