1 dead, three homeless following Westmoreland house fire
One person is dead and three others are homeless, following a house fire in little London, Westmoreland, on Tuesday night.
The deceased has been identified as 59-year-old Derrick Marks.
The fire reportedly broke out shortly before midnight.
It’s reported that residents tried to rescue Mr. Marks, who was confined to a wheel chair, however, they were unable to gain access to the house and the fire brigade was summoned.
Public Relations Officer for the brigade, Emeleo Ebanks said three units were dispatched to the location.
He said when the firefighters arrived, the dwelling was already destroyed.
Mr. Mark’s charred remains were removed from the debris, after cooling down operations.
Mr. Ebanks said a child, is among the three people who are now homeless, as a result of the blaze.
