Young Sunshine Girls to open Netball World Youth Cup campaign against Tonga
Jamaica’s Under 21 Sunshine Girls will be aiming to make a positive start when they begin their campaign in the Netball World Youth Cup 2025 with a Group C opener against Tonga on September 21.
The tournament, being held in Gibraltar, will see the young Jamaican team competing alongside Tonga, Sri Lanka, Wales, and England. Their second match comes swiftly on September 22 against Sri Lanka, followed by a clash with Wales on September 23. The young Sunshine Girls will round out their group stage journey with a showdown against England on September 24.
All matches will be held at two premier venues in Gibraltar — the Europa Sports Complex and the Tercentenary Sports Hall — with eight matches scheduled daily across both locations.
Following the conclusion of group stage play on Day Six, teams will be re-ranked based on their performance during the round-robin phase. These new rankings will determine whether they move forward to compete for positions 1–8, 9–16, or 17–20.
The final stretch of the competition will feature 20 additional matches over four days, leading up to the highly anticipated medal matches and final classification games on day eight. The tournament will culminate in the Grand Final on September 28 at the Europa Sports Complex, followed by a closing ceremony where the 2025 Netball World Youth Cup champions will be crowned.
