Young girl hit by garbage truck in Manchester pushes child road fatality toll to 19
The death of a young girl following an incident involving a garbage truck in Manchester has pushed the child road fatality toll to 19.
Nine year old Amoya Moore, a grade 4 student of Villa Road Primary School, was hit by a fallen object from the truck.
Amoya fell and the truck ran over her.
The National Road Safety Council, (NRSC), noted that the overall death toll so far this year is 352.
Vice Chairman Dr. Lucien Jones said this includes 65 pedestrians.
Dr. Jones called for greater focus on road safety.
He also called for children to be accompanied by an adult when walking along roads.
