Xavier Gilbert remains at the helm of National senior Reggae Girls programme
Coach Xavier Gilbert will remain at the helm of the national senior Reggae girls team for the rest of the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup qualifiers which ends on December 3.
The appointment which was unveiled this morning by the Jamaica football federation will see the former national under 17 team coach supervising the team for the return leg qualifier against panama on November 29 at the National Stadium and against Guatemala in Guatemala on December 3.
Gilbert was appointed as interim head coach after the JFF opted against renewing the contract of world cup coach Lorne Donaldson at the end of september.
He was then charged with guiding the hastily assembled reggae girls for the first two matches in the Concacaf Women’s Gold Cup qualifying competition, from which the girl got a point in the two all draw against Guatemala.
He is expected to have a training camp in Jamaica with the girls ahead of the assignment against Panama at the National Stadium and is also expected to invite more players to add to the pool which faced Panama and Guatemala.
In the meantime, the reggae girls are at the foot of the three team table with one point from two matches…………..Panama lead the group with six points from three matches, with Guatemala second on 4 from three matches.
