Works Minister Robert Morgan says the Shared Prosperity through Accelerated Improvement to Our Road Network (SPARK) programme is delivering measurable results.

The Minister noted that SPARK is already in active implementation with seven work orders issued covering 313 roads island-wide.

He said to date 38 roads have been completed.

The Minister also disclosed that the programme was never designed to fix all roads across the country at once.

He was responding to public discussion following media reports suggesting that some roads initially identified through community consultations may not be addressed under the current phase of the programme.

In a statement today, Mr. Morgan stressed that the Government is committed to implementing SPARK Two, which will ensure that more important community roads are addressed over time.

He said approximately $10.4 billion in works has already been certified under phase one of the initiative, despite delays caused by Hurricane Melissa.

Additionally the Minister informed that 69 roads are being paved and 89 are in progress with construction having started.
