Work is underway to restore full vehicular access to the John’s Hall main road in St. James.
This following flooding and landslides caused by heavy rainfall yesterday.
Videos circulating on social media show the raging flood waters. One of the videos captured two cars being swept away.
There was no immediate report of injury.
Speaking with IRIE FM News this morning, Community Relations Officer at the NWA’s western region, Janel Ricketts said the flood waters have receded.
She added that the affected roadway was reduced to single-lane traffic, but teams have been deployed to restore full access.
Meantime, Mayor of Montego Bay, Richard Vernon has expressed relief that no one died as a result of the flooding.
He said further assessments will be conducted to determine damage done to personal property and other infrastructure.
