A woman was reportedly carried away by floodwaters following heavy rainfall in the Corporate Area yesterday.

Head of the police’s Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, Assistant Commissioner Dr Gary McKenzie, stated that the woman was rescued.

The flood also resulted in several vehicles being disabled, which led to a traffic pile-up and scores of stranded commuters.

Videos of yesterday’s ordeal have gone viral on social media.

In an update this morning, Dr McKenzie noted that efforts are being made to clear the debris left behind by the floodwaters.
