Windies spinner Akeal Hosein no.1 on ICC T20I Rankings
West Indies spinner Akeal Hosein has taken over the number one spot on the ICC T20 International Rankings for bowlers.
The upward move of three places comes after he claimed 2 for 13 in game 2 on Tuesday to follow up on a 1 for 16 performance in Sunday’s opening game of the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh at Arnos Vale in St Vincent.
In taking over the no.1 spot with 707 rating points Hosein, who is achieving his career-best position, went past three other spinners: Adil Rashid (701), Wanindu Hasaranga (696) and Adam Zampa (694). Maheesh Theekshana of Sri Lanka closes out the top 5 with 684 rating points.
Spinner Gudakesh Motie, the next highest ranked West Indies bowler, comes in at no.9 on 651 points after moving up three places. Roston Chase (584) up 5 spots to 24 and Alzarri Joseph who held firm at 27 on 569 points are the other bowlers inside the top 30.
Over on the T20I Batting Rankings, NIcholas Pooran, down 3 spots to 14 on 616 points, is the highest ranked West Indian.
Heading the list is Travis Head of Australia ahead of Phil Salt (England) and Tilak Varma (India), Suryakumar Yadav (india) and Jos Buttler (England).
Meanwhile, Babar Azam went up a place to sixth among T20I batters while his captain Mohammad Rizwan slipped from sixth to eighth after the T20I series in South Africa, and Reeza Hendricks broke into the top ten by going up six places to rank ninth after his scintillating 117 off 63 in the second T20I in Centurion.
