Education Minister Fayval Williams has sought to assure that measures to tackle school violence, under the multi-pronged Safety and Security Policy, are having significant impact.  

The minister noted that between 2022 and 2023, over 50 critical incidents reports were submitted to the Ministry

She described the situation as madness. 

Among the response measures, are searches of school bags, and counselling for at risk children.

Mrs. Williams said Police School Resource Officers continue to provide support to institutions. 

She was making her contribution to the sectoral debate in parliament yesterday.
