It was not business as usual at the Whitfield Primary and Infant School in Kingston this morning.

Instead of the regular classes, students and staff were engaged in counselling sessions.

This follows the sudden death of Principal Karen Powell last Friday.

She collapsed at the institution and was pronounced dead at hospital.

Board Chairman John Mahfood said a team from the Education Ministry was among several others who provided grief counselling support to the school community, which is devastated by the tragedy.
