Westmoreland seeing uptick in murders; 3 men killed in Grange Hill on Saturday

Amidst an uptick in crime in Westmoreland, three men were shot and killed in separate incidents in Grange Hill, in the parish, on Saturday (March 9).

The deceased are 22-year-old Alex McKenzie otherwise called ‘Bad-Bad’, 37-year-old Ricardo Green and 49-year-old Anthony Smith.

In the first incident at about 3: 20 PM, McKenzie was shot and killed by unknown assailant(s) along Crowder main road in the parish.

Reports from the Morgan’s Bridge police are that the police were informed of gunshots being fired in the area.

Upon their arrival, McKenzie’s body was seen lying on the ground with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where death was confirmed.

Later at about 8 PM, Ricardo Green, a bike taxi operator of Geneva, in Grange Hill, was driving his Suzuki motorcycle along the Geneva main road, when several explosions were heard.

Green lost control of the motorcycle and crashed.  The police were alerted and upon their arrival, he was seen lying on his back in a pool of blood, with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Minutes later, at about 8: 15 PM, 49-year-old Anthony Smith, a carpenter of Geneva, Grange Hill was sitting on his Cobra motorcycle in front of a shop on Rory Street when he was fired upon by unknown assailants.

The police were alerted and upon their arrival, Smith was seen lying beside his motorcycle with multiple gunshot wounds to his head and upper body. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
