Westmoreland Family Court to resume full operations next week following disruptions due to hurricane Melissa

The Westmoreland Family Court is to resume full operations, following disruptions due to the passage of hurricane Melissa last October.

The Court Administration Division said operations are set to resume next Monday March 30, at the original location on Rose Street, in Savanna-la-mar.

The resumption follows a period of temporary relocation after the courthouse sustained significant damage from hurricane Melissa, which affected the roofing and other sections of the building.

Director of Client Services, Communications and Information, Mrs. Kadiesh Jarrett-Fletcher, said all necessary renovations have been completed.

Mrs. Jarrett-Fletcher said the CAD covered the full cost of repairs.

For yesterday, today and Thursday of this week, cases will be heard at the Rose Street location.

The court will have its two final sittings in Whithorn tomorrow and Friday, ahead of the full reopening.

The Westmoreland Parish Court, which has been operating from the Whithorn outstation, will continue to function from that location.

The reopening marks a major step in restoring full judicial services and improving access to justice for citizens across Westmoreland.

Members of the public are encouraged to take note of the updated arrangements to ensure seamless access to court services.
