Westmoreland Custos concerned about impact of mass deportation from USA
Custos of Westmoreland Hartley Perrin has expressed concern about the potential impact of any mass deportation of persons to the island.
He was addressing the issue of crime at a meeting of the Westmoreland chapter of the Lay Magistrates Association, yesterday.
Custos Perrin referred to U S President Donald Trump’s plans to implement mass deportation of undocumented migrants.
Custos Perrin said residents should brace themselves for how the dislocation of persons overseas could impact the island.
He commended members of the security forces for the efforts which led to a reduction in murders last year.
However Custos Perrin stated that it’s only a sustained reduction in murders that will result in Jamaicans being more comfortable.
