Westmoreland burn victim, Dacia Forrester succumbs

The Westmoreland woman who was doused in gasoline and set on fire during an altercation at a service station in Whithorn last month has died.

40-year-old Dacia Forrester succumbed sometime between last night and this morning.

She had been admitted at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in St. James for treatment of third-degree burns.

Health officials and relatives confirmed that she passed.

Reports are that at about 12 noon on February 19, Forrester went to a service station where a confrontation ensued with a female employee.

The dispute escalated and Forrester was doused with a flammable substance and set ablaze.

She was hospitalised in Westmoreland before being transferred to Cornwall Regional.

Crisis support charity, Burn Foundation Jamaica were raising funds for Forrester to be taken overseas for specialized treatment.

30-year-old Collate Swaby of Whithorn has been accosted in relation to the incident.

She was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm on Monday, February 23.
