West Indies Women slump to 5 wicket defeat in 3rd ODI vs India
A subpar batting performance by West Indies Women saw them slump to a five-wicket defeat in the third One Day International against India at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara to suffer a 3-0 series sweep.
Electing to bat the Windies were dismissed for 162 in 38.5 overs, led by Chinelle Henry who slammed 61 off 72 deliveries – inclusive of 5 fours and 3 sixes – while sharing a 91-run fourth wicket partnership with Shemaine Campbelle who contributed 46.
Aaliyah Alleyne who added 21 was the only other West Indies batter into double figures, with both openers Qiana Joseph and Hayley Mathews failing to score.
Right arm offbreak spinner Deepti Sharma led the India bowling attack, bagging 6 for 31 while Renuka Singh played the supporting role taking 4 for 29.
At their turn to bat India slumped to 129 for 5 before Sharma, later named Player of the Match, hit an unbeaten 39 to carry them over the finish line at 167 for 5 in 28 overs.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was the second best India batter with 32 while there was a wicket each for Deandra Dottin, Aaliyah Alleyne, Hayley Matthews, Afy Fletcher and Karishma Ramharack.
