West Indies Women defeats hosts Zimbabwe to win three match series 2-1

The West Indies Women defeated hosts Zimbabwe Women by 91 runs in the third and final One Day International at Harare Sports Club today to win the three-match series 2-1.
Batting first, the Windies Women put up a challenging 271 for 5 from their allotted 50 overs, with Player of the Match and captain Hayley Matthews once again joining the century club with a brilliant 118 runs off 113 deliveries, including 18 fours and one six.
Wicketkeeper Shemaine Campbell struck 96 from 119 balls, including 13 fours, as Campbell and Matthews put together a century partnership worth 160 runs for the second wicket, while Jannillea Glasgow finished unbeaten on 26.
Nomvelo Sibanda bagged 2 for 42, Beloved Biza claimed 2 for 46, while Nyasha Gwanzura finished with 1 for 36 for Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe, set 272 runs for victory, folded meekly for 180 runs in the 48th over.
Captain Josephine Nkomo top-scored for the home side with an unbeaten 74 runs, laced with five fours and one six, while Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano made 25.
Ashmini Munisar ended with 2 for 32 for the Caribbean women, Jannillea Glasgow picked up 2 for 37, and Aaliyah Alleyne claimed 2 for 39.
With the win, the West Indies Women have climbed to third spot in the ICC Women’s One Day Championship points table, with 12 points from 12 matches.
Both teams will now turn their attention to the three-match T20 series, which begins on Saturday, October 3.
