West Indies Women arrive in Pakistan for T20I & ODI series
West Indies Women are now in Karachi ahead of the upcoming white ball tour of Pakistan, having staged a one week pre-tour preparation camp in Dubai.
The squad led by captain Hayley Matthews also comprises Shemaine Campbelle (vice-captain) and five Jamaicans in former captain Stafanie Taylor, Rashada Williams, Chinelle Henry, Chedean Nation and 19-year old right-arm medium pacer Kate Wilmott who is earning her first senior team call-up having displayed commendable performances during the recently concluded CG United Women’s Super50 Cup and T20 Blaze tournaments.
Completing the 15 member squad are Aaliyah Alleyne, Shamilia Connell, Cherry Ann Fraser, Afy Fletcher, Jannillea Glasgow, Zaida James, Qiana Joseph and Karishma Ramharack.
West Indies Women are scheduled to face their Pakistan counterparts in a three-match One Day International series which bowls off on Thursday April 18 with the second and third games set for April 21 and 23 respectively.
The Maroon Warriors, after the conclusion of the ODI series, will face Pakistan in a five-match t20 international series which runs from April 26 to May 3.
The T20I series will give both teams the chance to fine-tune their skills and strategies ahead of the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is due to take place after the Women’s CPL in Bangladesh in September.
