Former West Indies head coach Phil Simmons gained bragging rights over his former employers after his current team, Bangladesh, beat West Indies by 101 runs in the second Test at Sabina Park to level the two-match series at 1-1.

The visitors, resuming on their overnight 193 for 5, went on to make 268 all out for an overall lead of 286.

Leading the way was Jaker Ali who went on to hit a vital 91 after starting the day on 29 while Kemar Roach 3 for 36 and Alzarri Joseph 3 for 77 were the most successful Windies bowlers.

The home side made a confident start to their chase but from 92-2 they let it slip away, eventually losing their final six wickets for 42 runs.

Kavem Hodge top-scored for the Windies with 55 while captain Kraigg Brathwaite who added 43 was the only other batsman to score more than 20 as left-arm spinner Taijul Islam took 5 for 50 to earn the Player of the Match award.

This was Bangladesh’s first Test win in the West Indies since a 2-0 series clean sweep in 2009.

Windies pacer Jayden Seales, who took 10 wickets and Bangladesh’s Taskin Ahmed who bagged series best 11 were named joint Players of the series.

Final scores: Bangladesh 164 and 268, West Indies 146 and 185.

The teams now turn their attention to the three-match One Day International series which bowls off on Sunday in St. Kitts.
