West Indies ‘A’ team lose opening game of five-match T/20 International series against Nepal
The West Indies ‘A’ team, despite a half century by captain Roston Chase, went down by 4 wickets in the opening game of the historic five-match T/20 International series against Nepal at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket ground in Kirtipur.
Chase led the way with 74 off 46 balls as the Windies ‘A’ losing the toss and inserted to take first strike, made a competitive 204 for 5.
Opener Alick Athanaze was next best with 47 from 25 while Keacy Carty added 38 from 26.
Captain Rohit Paudel who conceded just 10 runs was the most economical of the 5 Nepalese bowlers to take a wicket.
Set a target of 205, the home team made 206 for 6 in 19.4 overs, winning with 2 balls to spare, led by Paudel who returned to blast 112 from just 54 deliveries, his century coloured by 10 fours and 6 sixes.
Dipendra Singh Airee got among the runs with 24 while there was 16 apiece for Khushal Bhurtel and Kushal Malla.
Obed McCoy 2-34 and Matthew Forde 2-48 were the most successful of the Windies A bowlers
The teams now turn their attention to game 2 which takes place on Sunday.
