Wendel Downswell handed the coaching reins for Reggae girls team to Pan Am Games
Wendel Downswell has been handed the coaching reins for the reggae girls team heading off to the Pan American Games in Chile.
The 18 member squad includes seven players of Jamaica Women’s Premier League Champions, Frazier’s Whip, Destiny Powell, Shaniel Buckley, LaToya Duhaney, Kiona Tulloch and Akeila Johnson , Janiel Mignott, Andrene Smith .
The rest of the squad includes, Tatanya Polack, Sajane Anderson, Ashanti Lewis, KIersha Thomas, Sashana Campbell, Tamara O’sullivan, Sheynne Bonnick, Sundai Amele and Elizabeth Miller, Chris-Ann chambers and Monique Pryce .
Meanwhile, Karen Lumsden will manage the team, Tyrese palmer is the equipment manager , the team doctor is Ruchelle Calvert – and Clive Wedderburn is the goal keeper coach.
More than 6,800 athletes from 41 countries and territories will compete in Santiago over 17 days. competitors in 20 sports, including gymnastics, boxing and swimming, will be looking to directly qualify for the Olympics.
Other sports will offer spots based on quotas, ranking points or minimum qualification standards.
The opening ceremony of the pan American Games will take place on Friday at the 47,000-seat Estadio Nacional, around which six new venues for 30 sports were built with an investment of $507 million.
