Wavell Hinds re-elected as WIPA President for seventh consecutive term

Former Jamaica and West Indies opener, Wavell Hinds, has been re-elected unopposed as President of the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) for a seventh consecutive term. The announcement was made during WIPA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday at the St. Kitts Marriott, where the entire executive was returned for a new term, which will run until 2027.

The AGM, held in conjunction with the Women’s Super 50 tournament, provided an ideal platform for participating players to engage with the association’s operations and gain a deeper understanding of the work done over the past year.

Hinds, who has been at the helm of WIPA for several years, will continue to lead the organization alongside Vice President Nixon McLean, Honorary Secretary Wayne Lewis, Assistant Secretary Liam Sebastien, and Treasurer Ridley Jacobs.

In a landmark moment, Rashada Williams, the current Jamaica and West Indies Women’s wicketkeeper/batter, was appointed as WIPA’s second non-elected female director. Williams, who is currently participating in the Women’s Super 50 Cup, was nominated and unanimously appointed by the quorum alongside Shakera Selman.

Expressing his gratitude, WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds, said, “I am committed to continuing to make our players and membership the priority of my leadership. I thank the membership for the trust and confidence that has been placed in me and my executive. I would also like to welcome our new director, Ms. Rashada Williams, and I wish her, and the executive, all the best for the new term.”
