Waterford Residents upset over untimely collection of garbage, NSWMA says garbage being collected
Residents of Waterford in Portmore, St. Catherine have expressed discontent over what they say is the untimely collection of their garbage.
Residents who live along Boston Road, in the Trelawny area of the community say the pileup is unsanitary and uncomfortable.
One woman claims that garbage collectors last visited the area on Labour Day.
Responding to the concern, Executive Director of the National Solid Waste Management Authority, Audley Gordon told IRIE FM news that garbage collection is currently being conducted in the community.
Mr. Gordon urged residents to contact him if their garbage has not been collected.
The Authority is set to receive fifty new units, comprising compactors, tippers and cranes, from the Local Government Ministry this morning.
This addition is expected to enhance the collection and transportation of solid waste across the island.
