Water Minister to address issue of NWC water quality soon
Water Minister Matthew Samuda is to address the issue of the quality of water supplied by the National Water Commission NWC to sections of Kingston and St. Andrew.
The issue has been placed under the spotlight after concerns were raised by the opposition.
Representatives of the government have accused the Opposition of making false statements on the matter, and the opposition says the government is downplaying the issue.
Earlier this week the Health Ministry confirmed that while some water samples from systems operated by the NWC tested positive for E. Coli, there is no cause for alarm, and no boil water advisory has been deemed necessary.
Mr. Samuda who spoke at the commissioning of new tanks and waterlines in Rhyne Park, St. James today said he would address the issue fulsomely on Sunday.
Today he sipped bottled water from the NWC and declared that the water is safe to drink and is in high demand.
