Voting underway at 146 polling stations in NE St. Ann; Electoral Office reports that polls opened at 7:05 AM

Voting is underway at 146 polling stations in North East St. Ann.

This as three candidates are vying for the post of Member of Parliament.

They are Jamaica Labour Party candidate, Matthew Samuda, independent candidate David Anderson and Chase Neil of the United Independents’ Congress.

The Electoral Office reported that all polling stations were opened by 7:05 A.M.

They are slated to close at 5 this evening.

Voters are entitled to three hours’ time-off from work to vote. This is in addition to the usual lunch hour.

The law, however, does not apply to persons who commence work at 10 A.M. or later, or end work at, or before 2 P.M.

The St. Ann North Eastern Constituency became vacant following the resignation of Marsha Smith earlier this month.
