The Jamaica Beach Birthright Environmental Movement (JABBEM) is again lamenting the denial of citizens’ access to the country’s beaches.

This follows a viral video in which a man, known as Chuckleberry was told to leave a beach in front of a popular hotel in St. Ann.

In the video, Chuckleberry can be heard explaining to the security guard that he was not encroaching on the property, but only walking in the water.

Speaking on IRIE FM’s Running African with Kabu Ma’at Kheru, he outlined the sequence of events leading to the confrontation.

While reacting to the incident, President of JABBEM, Dr. Devon Taylor said his organization continues the fight for legislative change.

He noted that there are four cases related to beach rights before the courts.

He urged Jamaicans to get on board with the fight.
