Vaz to submit revised report on JPS restoration efforts to cabinet
Energy Minister Daryl Vaz is expected to submit to cabinet today, a revised report from the Jamaica Public Service JPS on its restoration efforts.
Mr Vaz has met with the light and power company, as he continues to push for a speedier restoration of electricity to several communities, following the passage of Hurricane Beryl on July 3.
At a meeting on Friday with JPS directors, managers, and shareholders, it was determined that the JPS will now list all communities still without power, and state when restoration for each can be expected.
Mr Vaz has urged the company to incentivize the workers and contractors to ensure the restoration works are done quickly.
There have been heightened cries from residents who are still without electricity more than three weeks after the passage of the hurricane.
The energy ministry says it will continue to work closely with JPS to monitor the situation and support the recovery efforts as needed.
