Vaz says finance ministry approved 3 year maintenance budget for newly acquired CNG buses for JUTC
Transport Minister Daryl Vaz has indicated that the finance ministry approved a 3 year maintenance budget for the newly acquired compressed natural gas (CNG) buses for the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC).
100 CNG buses were handed over to the JUTC yesterday.
This set is the first of 3 procurement phases of new vehicles, that will see 300 units being added to the JUTC fleet.
Speaking at yesterday’s ceremony, Mr. Vaz also indicated that the finance ministry approved funding for refurbishing 30 articulated buses.
He further revealed that the finance ministry approved the acquisition of the second set of 100 new CNG buses, to be delivered by next June.
Also approved, is the budget for some new charter service buses.
