Vandalism preventing banks from complying with requirements for operational ATMs
The Bank of Jamaica, BOJ is reporting that vandalism is among various challenges being experienced by banks, which are hampering their efforts to achieve full compliance with regulatory requirements for operational Automated Teller Machines, ATMs.
BOJ Deputy Governor Dr. Jide Lewis says in light of the challenges, the central bank continues to work with deposit taking institutions, as they try to meet the 90 percent operational target.
He noted that some banks are seeking to replace old ATMs with more modernized units, in an effort to minimize customers’ complaints about non functioning machines.
