UWI Mona principal calls for redefinition of student success in tertiary education
By Marlene Freeman
Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Professor Densil Williams, says there is need for a reform on what success looks like among students at the tertiary level.
Speaking at the Jamaica Teachers’ Association’s annual conference, Professor Williams highlighted that the education system defines success by exam passes.
However, he pointed out that the concept of success varies.
Professor Williams referenced the Harvard University System as one he believes is more effective.
He said the University of the West Indies is looking to reform its educational system to facilitate students’ success.
