UTECH’s administrative and auxiliary staff reportedly restive

Several administrative and auxiliary workers at the University of Technology, UTECH have expressed dissatisfaction with what they say is a new arrangement relating to the payment of retroactive salaries owed to them.

The staff are reportedly restive, following yesterday’s meeting with the institution’s management team, during which they were reportedly advised that retroactive monies would be paid in the November pay cycle.

According to President of UTECH’s Administrative Staff Association, UTASA Jeanette Grayson, this advisory differs from the promise made by the Finance Ministry to have the monies paid this month.

Ms. Grayson said the workers are upset that the new payment arrangement was finalized without consultations with the union.

When questioned about whether preparations for the school’s upcoming graduation ceremonies slated for November 15 and 16 would be impacted, Ms. Grayson said the hope is that this will not happen.
