UTECH workers agree to resume duties pending second meeting later this week
Administrative, technical and auxiliary staff at the University of Technology (UTECH) have agreed to resume normal duties, pending the outcome of a meeting later this week.
The agreement was reached today, at a meeting with the labour ministry, UTECH management and the union representing workers.
It comes in the wake of a strike by workers, who are upset about the non-payment of their retroactive salaries.
The UTECH Administrative Staff Association (UTASA) said some progress was made at today’s meeting at the ministry.
UTASA President Janette Grayson said arrangements are being made for the involved parties to meet on an agreed date.
