Utech administrative staff agrees to return to work after withdrawing service over wage concerns
The administrative staff at the University of Technology (UTECH) in St. Andrew has agreed to return to work this morning after withdrawing service last Thursday and Friday.
The workers were upset over missed actionable timelines regarding their compensation review process.
Last Wednesday evening, the staff made the decision to take industrial action for the remainder of the week following the absence of documentation, which should have been handed over to the UTECH’s Administrative Staff Association (UTASA).
In an update to IRIE FM News, UTASA President Jeanette Grayson noted that though the workers remain restive they have agreed to resume their duties.
Ms. Grayson explained that the Finance Ministry made contact and has pledged to hand over a compensation proposal by the end of this week.
She said staff members are hoping that this commitment will be honoured.
