UTASA contemplating industrial action due to delayed wage implementations
The University of Technology, UTECH’s Administrative Staff Association, UTASA, says it is contemplating industrial action, following a breakdown in talks over outstanding aspects of the government’s compensation review exercise.
It says there is a protracted delay in getting an explanation from the Ministries of Finance and Education for the non implementation of the new salaries and retroactive payment.
According to UTASA, adjustments have already been made to another group at the university concerning the compensation review.
However, the non- academic employees are yet to hear any definitive word on a pay-date for the outstanding salaries and retroactive payments.
UTASA President, Janette Grayson told Irie FM News that a meeting with management and the Education Ministry is slated for today.
She said if the demands are not met, UTASA cannot guarantee normalcy.
