UPDATE: Two children and adult battling for life following fatal Fern Gully crash

Two children are among three people battling for their lives in hospital following a fatal crash along the Fern Gully main road in St Ann, on Sunday.

The deceased is 49 year old Suzette Thomas a house keeper of Wildman Street Kingston.

Police report that minutes to midday, a 15 seater Nissan Caravan with 23 persons aboard crashed into an embankment.

Its reported that upon reaching a section of the roadway the right front tyre of the vehicle blew out causing the driver to lose control of the motor bus, which collided with a stone wall and overturned.

The police were called to the scene and the injured persons were taken to the St Ann’s Bay Hospital, where the woman succumbed and the others were admitted.

Its understood that six persons are in serious condition.

Irie Fm News also understands that 16 children and 7 adults were travelling in the vehicle.

Lawmen say the two children and one adult had to be transferred to the University Hospital of the West Indies for treatment.

Its reported that the passengers were travelling from Kingston and were heading to St Mary on a funday when the crash occurred.

In the meantime, the police are urging motorists to obey the road code and to desist from speeding.
