The roadway in the vicinity of the Bellefield Square in Manchester has been cleared.

It was blocked by residents who protested over poor road conditions this morning.

The roadblock affected several commuters, including school children.

It comes as teachers and students return to the classrooms from the summer break today.

Councillor for the Bellefield Division, Mario Mitchell said he understands the frustration of the residents.

He said he has had discussions with the National Works Agency and Member of Parliament for Manchester Central Rhoda Moy Crawford regarding the issue.
