Update: Police identify District Constable who died in car crash
The Portland police have been plunged into mourning, following the death of a District Constable in a car crash last evening.
Twenty-five-year-old Romar Steele died in an accident in Orange Bay, Portland.
Reports are that he crashed into a utility pole and was removed from the vehicle with the assistance of firefighters. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Head of the United District Constables Association, Damion Pryce, remembered DC Steele as a jovial person.
He is calling on officers to be observant when on the road.
Steele was a member of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement branch for five years.
One of his colleagues, Brent Castle told IRIE FM News that Steeleās death has come as a shock to the division.
