The Jamaica Constabulary Force has put immediate measures in place to recapture the remaining 8 inmates who escaped from the Constant Spring police lock-up in St. Andrew, early this morning.

Nine men escaped custody after reportedly cutting their way through a grill and a door made of metal.

The breakout was discovered during routine checks.

One of the escapees 45-year-old, David Rhoden of Malvern Avenue in Kingston, has since been recaptured.

Those who remain on the run are 25-year-old, Kamal Kelly of Mannings Hill District in Stony Hill, who was charged with shooting with intent; 18-year-old Fray Messias of Pinto, Stony Hill, who was charged with rape; and 19-year-old Alunzo Espute of Cassava Piece, St. Andrew, who was charged with murder by stabbing.

Also on the run are 26-year-old Junior Anthony Barnes of Iron River, Stony Hill, who was charged with possession of a weapon and ammunition, and 25-year-old Dorique Douglas of Oxford Street ; who was charged with wounding with intent, shooting with intent and malicious destruction of property.

The other escapees, are 26-year-old Brandon Ennis of Belvedere, Red Hills, St. Andrew, who was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, 23-year-old Talik Chambers of a Burlington Avenue address in St. Andrew, who was charged with identity theft, and 19-year-old Richard Bishop of an Olympic Way address, who was charged with burglary and larceny.

The eight men are the subject of a widespread manhunt across the Corporate Area.

The JCF says it is treating this matter with the highest level of urgency, and all assets are being utilised to return these individuals to custody as swiftly as possible.

It adds that resources have been deployed islandwide to support the recapture of these individuals.

Lawmen are appealing to members of the public who may have information on the whereabouts of these escapees to contact the Constant Spring police at 876-924-1421, police 119 emergency number, anonymously to crime stop at 311 or the nearest police station.

Persons are also being reminded that it is an offence to harbour criminals.
