The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) has launched a probe into a fatal shooting in Cassia Park, St. Andrew early this morning.

The deceased, identified as Robin Buchanan was fatally shot during an alleged confrontation with lawmen.

INDECOM’s Assistant Commissioner, Hamish Campbell told IRIE FM News that the incident occurred while cops, attached to the Area Five Fugitive Apprehensive Team were conducting a special operation.

He said though INDECOM has been collecting reports from the officers involved, there will be further inquiries regarding available CCTV footage, among other things to aid the probe.

Since the start of the year, at least 78 people have been fatally shot by members of the security forces.
