The Jamaica Fire Brigade (JFB) says an illegal power connection appears to be the cause of this morning’s house fire in Greenwich Town, Kingston.

Six firefighters who were battling the blaze suffered electrical shocks but three of them are hospitalized in serious condition.

The JFB’s Commissioner, Stewart Beckford told IRIE FM news that the injured firefighters were taken to hospital by police officers and residents.

In light of the incident, Commissioner Beckford reiterated the call for persons to refrain from having illegal electricity connections at their premises.

He warned of the danger to life and property.

The house fire has been extinguished.
